[...] I just finished reading this excellent (and FREE) ebook by Yaro Starak and gideon Shalwick called “The Roadmap to Become a Blogger”. It basically lays down everything you need to know about making money from your own blog (which I also discussed to some extent in a previous post).
Yes, as far as I know they're a reseller. Kaibigan ko sa States yung may ari, so when anything's wrong, ang bilis ng tech support. That's the thing pa, since they handle the tech queries themselves, mas mabilis since wala nung pila sa GoDaddy :)

I've tried those hosts with long-term prepay plans, and ang masasabi ko lang... huwag sa IMHosted. Hehe. Yun lang. Kakastress sila.

Wait...I just went over to GoDaddy and checked their hosting options. Like you said, they also offer monthly plans, and cheaper too...Is CynicalDog a reseller of GoDaddy? I just have this feeling...:D

Hi Celine,

Is Cynical Dog any good? I went over to their site and I like the fact that they allow shorter purchase periods for their hosting plans. I've checked out dozens of hosting providers and they mostly have a minimum of one year prepay plan, or if they do give a monthly option, it's way more expensive than the longer plans. The thing is, this is the first time I've heard of them.

Thanks in advance. :)

Btw to <b>tyke </b>(hi!)--many hosts offer a "one-click install" of WordPress and other popular blogging/CMS software. So check if the host offers this, too because it's a great time-saver. :)

It depends on who you sign up with. For my site hosted at <a href="http://cynicaldog.net/" rel="nofollow">Cynical Dog</a>, I pay $5.95 per month for the server space and $6.95 yearly for the domain name. But they have promos where you can get the domain name for less than $2 for the first year.

GoDaddy.com has a cheaper hosting account, which allows you to host a website for $4.29 monthly.

For my other sites, including Frugal Pinoy, I have a huge multi-website hosting account which amounts to roughly $100 per year, but it holds several websites. I think I have at least 5 websites in that account.

The Wordpress deal you showed me sounds pretty cool, but the $15 yearly only covers the domain name. To be able to completely customize the look of the site, you need to pay an additional $15 yearly, plus pay for additional storage space - which might hamper your growth if your blog requires a lot of graphics, videos, or pictures. I'm not even sure if you can place ads or use ways to monetize your blog.

However, since the WordPress deal is entry-level, it's less hassle than setting up your web host, installing WordPress, and all the other trouble that comes with managing your own web space. It's not really much trouble, but for a newbie it can be intimidating, especially if you just want to spend your time focused on blogging. Just make sure you'll be allowed to place ads or link to affiliate programs - but as far as i can tell, it's not allowed.

As for the blogging platform, if you choose WordPress, you can download it for free (<a href="http://www.wordpress.org" rel="nofollow">click here</a> it's different from the Wordpress.com site) and install it on your server.

Hope that helps!
